Falling off a ladder

November 14, 2023

Falling from ladders is one of the largest causes of deaths and serious injuries in the workplace. Similarly, falling through roofs whilst carrying out repairs.

HSE research confirms that 40 people were killed working from height in 2022/23.

For workers and their families coping with the devastation of injury or death to a loved one while falling from height at work it is very important to know that in many cases compensation can be claimed.

There are important laws that employers must observe when an employee is working at height. Where accidents occur, it is often because these regulations have been ignored.  Often there is no or no adequate risk assessment, a ladder has not been set up correctly or has something wrong with it.

When something like this happens, it is important to act quickly. There will be many other more immediate things to think of other than compensation but if a fall prevents someone from working for an extended period, then recovering lost wages, access to first class medical treatment and rehabilitation will become essential.
